A demon comes in a variety of different forms depending on bloodline, etc. Demons who are more closely related to Lucifer are known to be more powerful than those they consider the 'lesser' demons, and the higher tier demons are often the ones seen with the most monstrous forms when they reveal their true powers. Then you have your underling demons who work for the higher ups and sometimes even work as familiars for them. Other demons work as soldiers rather than servants, and then you have your contract holding demons. While most demons are able to be summoned from the depths of the Underworld to the mortal realm through various summoning circles and rituals in order to grant a 'wish', there are certain demons created specifically for such a task. Crossroads demons are a 'sub-species', if you will.
While he may not be a crossroads demon, Phantasma is one of the many demons who specialize in forming contracts with humans. Upon summoning and creating a contract, he will remain with his contract holder until the wish has been fulfilled, no matter how stupid it might be. The contracts binds him to be entirely loyal to that one person, and his powers are strongest while under contract. He is not allowed to harm his contract holder, and he is supposed to protect them no matter what. He also cannot go against an order from his contract holder. If they choose to bail or violate the terms of the contract, then he gets to take their soul early.
Phantasma is an animal demon, something that is not uncommon. He is symbolized by the cat, and he has the power to turn into a variety of large feline species at will. All of these are given black fur and red eyes no matter what. In his regular demon form, Phantasma's arms resemble a large plush toy's with stitching, though his 'hands' are more like monstrous claws. He also sports a tail with a white tip and a pair of feline ears. He can hide these with illusion magic in order to appear human. In most forms he takes, he has enhanced strength, agility, and senses. When in his 'human' and original forms, he can use various types of dark magic, though he mainly abuses this power to get things done faster or to pull pranks. When he exceeds his limits and most of his power is depleted, he will pass out and turn into a small black cat. Upon waking up, he will still be in this feline form until he has regained enough strength. This usually only takes a few hours if he is allowed to eat. While his primary food source may be souls, he can still eat regular food. It provides most of the same benefits, but he cannot survive off of normal food alone.
Just like all demons, he has a wide variety of weaknesses that can either cut his power in half just by being in their presence or knock him out completely and send him back to the Underworld until he can regain his energy and be summoned once more. The more obvious of these are holy objects and holy ground. He must avoid churches like the plague, and it is almost like something close to an impassible barrier that surrounds churches and other places of holy ground. There are some exceptions, such as if he is under a contract strong enough to be able to break the barrier with only minor side effects. Being in rooms with a cross will weaken his powers, and he will often flip them upside down or knock them down to regain power. Considering he cannot touch the cross, he will usually throw things at it until it falls off.
There is also the weakness that comes with his name. No, not Phantasma. That was a name that his last contract holder gave him that he decided he rather liked. His true name, Aelurus, can be used against him if he actually gives it out to someone with knowledge of rituals and exorcism. If done right, it can get his will to be bent toward the person who knows his true name or to even send him straight back to the underworld. As such, he keeps his true name under wraps and either introduces himself as Phantasma or offers his new contract holders to give him a name.
Considering he is a cat demon, he is not very fond of anyone with canine blood. This does not apply to actual dogs as he is quite fond of them, oddly enough, but he becomes slightly edgy around werewolves and the like.

Black and orange ears perked, his feeble attempts at smoothing down the white fur on his chest stilling. He never said a word, never moved an inch. He just... Listened. Wide orange eyes remained focused on the tortoiseshell tomcat, concern pooling with every cough that shook the warrior's body. The medicine cat's mind began to raise, whirling with questions and assumptions, hoping that any thought that came to his mind was nothing but him being a worrywart. Yet, coughing was never a good sign, especially not during the colder seasons. Swallowflight slowly began to move. It started with him only shifting his weight on his white, slightly muddied paws. He kept his eyes on the warrior, allowing him to speak while the smaller tomcat simply... watched, observed, searched for any other signs of illness that could cause alarm throughout the entire clan if misjudged.
With soft steps, the calico rose to his paws. He put one in front of the other as he headed toward the warrior, slowly circling around him with his pink nostrils flaring, whiskers twitching, as he inhaled all the scents that lingered on the warrior's pelt. "Come," he kept his voice as soft as it always was, gentle and just barely above a whisper. With a flick of the tail for Tallwhisker to follow away from the den entrance, the medicine cat slipped back over to the meager piles of herbs. His gaze swept over them, landing on the wilting tansy stalks. He hesitated for a split second before stretching his neck toward the little pile, carefully picking up one stem of tansy. The green of the stem and the leaves were beginning to fade, showing just how long it had been since he was last able to find a new supply. The yellow petals were beginning to curl in on themselves, and the herb did not look appetizing in the slightest. He used to love leafbare as a kit, but now he just hated it with a passion.
Swallowflight moved the flower away from the piles of other herbs, gently dropping it on the ground. He had chosen one of the smaller of the tansy supply. Considering he did not know the full effect of the herb when it was no longer in its prime, and considering tansy was supposed to be given in small dosages anyway, he did not want to take his chances. "Eat this," he spoke as he nodded toward the wilting herb, sitting back down and wrapping his fluffy tail around the white of his paws. "I..." He hesitated, shifting on his paws as a slight shiver ran throughout his body. "I don't want to... To take away from your d-duties, but... I want you to stay in my den--or at least under my watch--until the sun rises once more." He shifted again, averting his eyes before locking them on the warrior. "It might just be a slight cough, nothing serious, but... I want to make sure. I-if it did become serious..." His voice faded off, and his ears drooped.
