Now, everyone's heard about the witch trials of Salem, Massachusetts and how it started with a slave woman from the Caribbean named, Tituba. What people seem to forget, however, was the fact that not only did Tituba survive, her bloodline did as well. But hey, that's good ol' American History, for ya'. But yes, Tituba was a born witch and so was her children and her children's children and so on and so forth. Of course, over time, that also meant that a few of these children had to intermarry with the regular population and certain secrets that only a witch would know would soon vanish.
Over the years, certain pieces of old books and grimories would pop up, only to collect dust in the attics of family. That is, until Nora got a hold of one such book during a visit to grandma. It's been a year since she had it, and only recently she's begun to feel its power work over her. She can do simple spells, mostly for hearth and cooking, but she's been reading over some of the stronger ones and she's got to say... goat's blood is HARD to find on ebay.
And as for the 'w' word? Let's just say she has a lot to learn before she accepts the term. For now, let's go with 'Magically Inclined'.

when everyone has lost their heads
Well, Nora's always been different, y'know? Her parents and siblings were big, BIG into things like sports and cheerleading, while she seemed in-tuned to bug collecting and adventuring around in nature. I guess her family should've known she had signs of the 'gift', but eh, better late than never, right? Nora also had developed a knack for painting and cartooning, much to her parents' annoyance.
They believe in a traditional pursuit of life. Doctor. Lawyer. Teacher. Typical stuff to brag about at Christmas, but her granny thought differently. Before she went off to college in Ashmill, she spent a summer at her grandparents'. And for once, she found some peace. It was really just her and her grandma, and on the night before she boarded her plane, she found an old, faded book in her grandmother's attic.
It had a presence, call it a spirit, if you will, but that book captivated her.
It was then that she learned who her ancestor really was, and while it wasn't the first time she's heard of her, she stayed a skeptic until reading the book's words made her washing machine go haywire during her third month of school.
So, it's been two years since she's picked that book up, she reads it at times, sometimes she finds something useful, but it's been recently that she'd been hardcore into her powers and other metaphysical stuff. Has it been a struggle to act normal at times? Well, yeah, but when you're running on just coffee beans, century old rituals, and a dream, you'd be a little weird, too.

Roleplay Sample -
For those of you that are making your first character, we need a sample of at least 100 words to see how you roll. You can recycle anything from a previous site, roleplay or otherwise, just as long as it meets the word requirement. If this is not your first character, you can skip it and go on, okay? Also this scrolls when you get long, so it's okay for it to be longer.
